Great Crested Newts, Croxton

The UK’s biggest newt, the Great Crested Newt is rare to see and is a protected species. It’s fantastic to find them in my garden. I’m fortunate enough to have spotted one twice over the past 3 years. The image on this page was taken by myself within The Rest Home’s garden. If you should stumble upon one, please leave it alone. It is illegal to even handle one without a license.

Please report any sightings of Great Crested Newts or other amphibians at https://www.recordpool.org.uk/

Great Crested Newts have full legal protection under UK law making it an offence to kill, injure, capture, disturb or sell them, or to damage or destroy their habitats.  This applies to all life-stages.
